Good Golly Miss Dolly
I’m a big Dolly Parton fan.
I was a Dolly Parton fan long before I became a country music fan.
I guess you could say I am attracted to truth seekers and truth speakers.
When I saw Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolias I just knew she was one of those people who followed her heart, and who people probably misjudged all the time. I figured she also didn’t give a hoot if people misjudged her.
I have read Dolly’s autobiographies. You know, the ones you have to order used from some website for 79 cents because nobody wants to hear about her anymore. But I love her.
Every now and again, I just adore going on the internet and searching Dolly Parton quotes. Dolly Parton is someone who is anchored with a heavy Christian heart, so the joie de vivre bubbles to the surface to her singing lips and strumming fingernails.
Here are some of my favorite Dolly Parton quotes, just for fun.
- The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.
- Storms make trees take deeper roots.
- I feel that sin and evil are the negative part of you, and I think it’s like a battery: you’ve got to have the negative and the positive in order to be a complete person.
- You don’t see too many atheists on the deathbed. They all start cramming then.
Enjoy one of my favorite Dolly Parton songs: “The Seeker”, which she calls “her talk with God”.
